Tommy, how come that someone actually has such crazy ideas seen in the shows „Chili TV“ or „Great things“?

Life, the universe and everything. Either I have an idea and I wanna write this as a skript or I write a skript and then come up with something. This can be something out of my life (camping phobia) or a story I make up. Often it‘s a mixture of both.

How long does it take until you come up with an episode of „Great things“ for example and write it down?

It‘s hard to tell generally but at all I rather write the skript immediately after having a basic idea without having a story line before that. Because the characters speak their lines like on their own and all I have to do is to make some notes. I‘m more like a „fever writer“. I sit down and write until it‘s completely finished. Over night as well and only with short breaks which are mostly spent with exhaustion. Or taking showers...

Is this team work or do you come up with the basics all alone?

It‘s varying. Once and a while we work it out with Daniel (editor from KIKA), and in other cases we discuss it. But we don‘t often write it together - however the director edits the writer‘s work. Sometimes it happens that Erik changes my skript or I do this with Norman‘s skript but it only happens in consultation with each other so it‘s never a problem. We know each other too long to have one. And the director is always the one being allowed to do it. Because: At the end he‘s the one to blame.
