Directing

Tommy Krappweis answers.

What does your job excactly contain?

I decide what is made, shot, cut, added with sound and FX-ed in what way. And I am the guilty one then.

What do you have to do there?

Generally making decitions and standing to them. And keeping the team together and supplying entertainment at the set to make comedy possible. This is a thing I think it is an extremely important factor.

How did you get this occupation?

I wanted it. Now I am it.

Is directing films with Bernd, Briegel and Chile the same as directing a „real movie“?

OH no. Everytime I have to shoot with „humans“ again and don‘t have to build up a set and to take care of monitors etc. I am stunned about how fast all this can get done.

What do you have to take care of especially as a director?

Of emotions, fun and cutability. „Cutability“ is the only thing I think it‘s important to do a certain kind of „handcraft“. There are so many methods to shoot a scene but only a few that are really perfect for this scene. And then once again a few out of them that match perfectly to the previous scene. And then again once again a few out of them that match to the scene which would be perfect for the next scene.

How long does it take to finish one episode?

We shoot about 50 minutes in one week for a show. The postproduction requires a few weeks. It‘s usually four to eight weeks including FX, sound, cutting.
